24 – 26 June 2025, Islamabad – As part of the European Union-funded Deliver Justice Project in Balochistan, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) conducted a comprehensive three-day training workshop on “Strengthening Legal Practice in Balochistan: Ethical and Effective Legal Representation” from 24 to 26 June 2025.. The initiative aimed to strengthen legal system of Balochistan’s criminal justice sector, with a particular focus on enhancing the capacity of lawyers in Balochistan in ethical and effective legal representation in courts.
This initiative is a step towards equipping legal practitioners with modern skills and deepening their understanding of core legal concepts vital for justice delivery. The program aims to strengthen their grasp of human rights, the rule of law, and the evolving principles surrounding the right to a fair trial within Pakistan’s dynamic criminal justice system.

The training places strong emphasis on the importance of professional legal ethics—an essential but often overlooked component in legal practice. Lawyers are being sensitized to uphold integrity, confidentiality, and accountability in their conduct, ensuring their actions align with both legal standards and public expectations including gender consideration. With a focus on real-life challenges, the training creates a platform for participants to reflect on their roles as ethical defenders of justice.
The training delivered comprehensive sessions on legal research, drafting, and persuasive writing. It also focused on improving advocacy skills and the ability to effectively deal with clients. Special attention was given to client interviews and communication, aiming to build trust and ensure a client-centred approach in legal representation. The training contributed significantly to the delivery of ethical, effective, and rights-based legal services in Balochistan
Certificates were awarded to the participants for completion of the training.
